Dr Sherry Isaac demanded a bribe of Rs 3000 from the complainant to perform surgery on a patient undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College. The doctor suggested that the money be sent to the clinic in Otu Para where he has a private practice. He had repeatedly bribed the patient's family without giving a date for the surgery.
Finally, the complainant approached the vigilance after demanding a bribe. Based on the written complaint, the vigilance sent a phenolphthalein-coated note. When the complainant reached the clinic in Otu Para and paid a bribe to Dr. Sherry Isaac, the vigilance team who was hiding caught him red-handed.
There was a complaint of bribery against Sherry Isaac earlier too, but due to lack of evidence, he escaped from the vigilance. Later, vigilance raid was conducted at the house. Bundles of notes found here are suspected to be bribe money. Money has been found here in several envelopes. It is suspected that all this was bought as bribe from many people.
