Minister Saji Cherian announced the Kerala State Film Awards. Mammootty won the best actor award for Nanpakal Neerath Mayakkum. Mammootty is winning the best actor award for the sixth time. Apart from this, Mammootty also won the Best Second Actor Award and the Special Jury Award. Nna Than Case has won eight awards.
Gautam Ghosh is the chairman of the jury. 49 films made it to the final round. This time there were 154 films to compete. In the first sub-committee, director, art director and painter Nemam Pushparaj is the chairman. Writers V.J. James, Dr. KM Sheeba, art director Roy P. Thomas are the members. In the second committee, director K.M. Madhusudan is the chairman. The members are producer BK Rakesh, directors Sajaz Rahman and Vinod Sukumaran.
