Veteran musician K.G. Jayan passed away. He was undergoing treatment for various diseases for some time. He passed away at his residence in Tripunithura. He was 90 years old. Actor Manoj K. Jayan is the son. He was a Carnatic musician who was proficient in devotional songs and violin playing.
He composed more than a thousand songs. He has received the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award (1991) and the Harivarasanam Award (2013) jointly instituted by the Kerala State Government and the Travancore Devaswom Board. Received Padma Shri in 2019.
