The next court hearing date has been announced for the release of Abdul Rahim, a native of Kozhikode, who is in Riyadh jail in Saudi Arabia. The case will be heard on February 2.
The Riyadh Rahim Support Committee announced that the court will hear the case at 8 am Saudi time on Sunday morning.
The case will be heard by a division bench. The Riyadh court has postponed the case for the sixth time regarding the release of Abdul Rahim, a native of Kozhikode, Farooq Kodampuzha, who is in jail in the case of the murder of a Saudi boy.
The hearing held at the Riyadh Criminal Court at 8 am yesterday lasted for more than an hour. Rahim was also present from jail in the online hearing.
Rahim's legal team, Indian Embassy official Yusuf Kakanchery and members of the support committee steering committee were also present.
After hearing the prosecution's arguments and the defense's response for over an hour, there were hopes that the proceedings would reach a conclusion. However, the court announced that the case would be postponed again.
