Criticism is intensifying against the controversial former Maldives minister's social media post following his reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The post of Maryam Shiuna, a member of President Muhammed Muisu's party, was the subject of controversy. As the symbol similar to Ashoka Chakra appeared in the post against the Maldivian Democratic Party, which is an opposition party, there was a misunderstanding that the post shared by them was the Indian flag. She later announced via X that she apologized for the misunderstanding caused by her post.
They said that the mutual trust and relationship with India is great and that whatever ideas are shared in the future, they will be careful. The compass on the MDP party poster has been replaced by a symbol similar to the Ashoka Chakra. Such a post also came under controversy after Maldives' relationship with India fell apart after President Muisu took office.
