According to a report by Forbes India, about 75 lakh customers of electronics gadget maker Boat Life Style have been leaked. According to the report, this information is being sold on the dark web. About 2 GB of data was leaked. Information for sale includes name, address, phone number, email ID and customer ID. It also warns that consumers may become victims of data breaches and financial scams. The information was leaked on April 5.
The data was put up for sale on the dark web by a hacker known as 'Shopify Guy'. Using such data, banking fraudsters and marketing companies contact people through phone and e-mail.
Threats such as financial fraud, phishing scams and identity theft may be faced. But the bot has not yet responded to the leak.
Launched in 2016, the boat lifestyle has become the most popular of personal electronics gadgets. The company was started by Aman Gupta and Sameer Mehta.
