SPEED LIMIT UPDATED IN KERALA ROADS..

A high-level meeting chaired by Transport Minister Antony Raju decided to update the speed limit of vehicles on the state's roads as per the national notification.  A.I.  It was decided to redefine the speed limit after the cameras were operational.  The current speed limit in the state is set in 2014.  Minister Antony Raju said that the new speed limit will come into effect from July 1.

 Permissible speed limit for vehicles up to nine seats is 110 km/h on 6-lane national highway, 100 (90) on 4-lane national highway, other highway, M.C.  The permissible speed limit for vehicles up to 9 seats is 90 (85) kmph on road and four-lane state highways, 80 (80) kmph on other state highways and major district roads, 70 (70) kmph on other roads, and 50 (50) kmph on city roads.

 For light-medium heavy motor vehicles with more than nine seats, 95 km on six-lane national highways, 90 (70) km on 4-lane national highways, other national highways, M.C.  The permissible speed limit is 85 (65) kmph on road and 4-lane state highways, 80 (65) kmph on other state highways and major district roads, 70 (60) kmph on other roads and 50 (50) kmph on city roads.

 80 (70) km on 6 lane and 4 lane national highways, 70 (65) km on other national highways and 4 lane state highways, 65 (60) km on other state highways and major district roads, 60 (60) km on other roads and 50 (50) km on city roads for light medium heavy category goods vehicles.  ) will also be recorded as km.

 As two-wheelers account for the majority of road accidents in the state, their maximum speed limit will be reduced from 70 kmph to 60 kmph.  The maximum speed limit for three-wheelers and school buses will remain at the existing 50 kmph.
