GST will increase on online gaming, casino and horse racing involving money. From today, 28 percent GST will be applicable on cash games. Till now the tax was 18 percent. Both the Houses of Parliament passed the amendment to increase the tax. Companies collect taxes and pay them to the government. According to the amendment, foreign gaming companies should also take GST registration in India.
Many states including Karnataka have issued ordinances amending the state GST Act. At the same time, some states including Kerala have not issued any ordinance in this regard. Gaming companies argue that this will cause confusion. No online gaming companies are registered in the state.
