The Central Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of widespread rain in Kerala for the next five days. The Meteorological Department has stated that the rains are intensifying in Kerala due to the influence of Cyclone Biporjoy.
Yellow alert has been announced in ten districts on Tuesday. Yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain with thunder and lightning is forecast. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The Central Meteorological Department has also informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in all the districts of Kerala in the next 3 hours. In the next 4 days, wind speed of 40 to 45 km per hour is likely to increase along the Kerala coast and the sea is likely to be rough. Fishermen are not allowed to go to sea. The chief minister's office said that the public should exercise extreme caution as there is a possibility of thunder and lightning along with the rain.
