HC ORDERS HOUSEWIFE EQUAL RIGHTS IN HUSBAND'S PROPERTY.

Madras High Court orders housewife equal rights in husband's property.  The Madras High Court has held that housewives work tirelessly for the family's affairs and are entitled to half of the husband's property.  Justice Krishnan Ramaswamy said that housewives have 24-hour work.

The housewife wife has equal right to the property purchased by the husband with his own money.  The court observed that the husband could not have accumulated so much money without the support of the wife who looked after the family.

The property may be purchased in the name of husband or wife.  But the money was made by the equal efforts of the husband and wife - the court said.

The observations of the court are on the petition filed by the children against giving half right in the father's property to the mother.  Earlier, her husband, who was working in the Gulf, accused her of having an affair after returning home.  He also alleged that his wife squandered his property.  After his death, his sons continued the case.
